Special Fruit NV is a worldwide importer of a wide-ranging but very particular range of fruit and vegetables: from strawberries and other berries to exotic species and specialities. Special Fruit endeavours to observe all the laws and regulations related to our operational activities. We do not tolerate any compromise as concerns integrity and honesty in the observance of all applicable legal and in-house requirements. Special Fruit expects all its employees to demonstrate the necessary ethics and responsibility in the execution of their job.

 

Special Fruit therefore undertakes to ensure that all measures intended to guarantee our quality and food safety are laid down in procedures, work instructions and registrations.

 

We furthermore ensure that our procedures and work instructions are executed and understood and that the effectiveness and observance thereof is checked internally. This is confirmed by external organizations that deliver certificates.

 

In addition to procedures and work instructions concrete improvement objectives are also defined. Results are monitored. Where necessary the operational activities are fine tuned to correct any shortcomings found.

 

We expect the same commitment from our suppliers. We want to be able to rely on their assurance in respect of quality and food safety, however, we also believe that it is our responsibility to perform the relevant inspections. We also require them to harmonize their work policy with the ethical standards detailed in the “Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code Principles”.

 

In-house we stimulate waste prevention and limit packaging waste.
We also take into consideration the environmental aspects for procurement and new developments.

 

The company’s management undertakes to make the necessary resources available to realise the above-mentioned objectives.
