State-of-the-art warehousing
We have 8000 m2 of variably cooled warehousing at our disposal, and additional facilities currently under construction.
In our warehouses, each delivery is entered into our ERP-system (Navision) that ensures that the exact location and status of every item is known at all times.
We have constant-temperature cooling cells at 1°C, 5-6°C and 10°C, all computer monitored. At the slightest temperature change an alarm in the control room alerts the floor manager on duty.
Our facilities are equipped to permit longer-term storage when necessary, utilising our ULO cooling cells (Ultra Light Oxygen), in which lower oxygen level slow the ripening process of fruit considerably - which is particularly useful when dealing with extremely perishable products like berries.
The role of innovation – and dedication…
Innovation is the key to market success and to margin retention. That’s why Special Fruit is permanently on the innovation trail. Currently, we are developing a huge new distribution facility featuring WMS (Warehouse Management System) and Dock and Yard management -automation of the (un)loading quays- which will be operational by October 2009.
Our warehouses are in operation for 20 hours out of 24, every day. They offer a challenging working environment, since the human body in general prefers a warmer ambient than e.g. a raspberry in transit. The male and female associates responsible for this complex task are vital factors in the quality product Special Fruits provides, and are appreciated accordingly.
