wild asparagus
ORIGIN:
France
AIVALABILITY
Wild asparagus are only available during a very short period in May-June.
DESCRIPTION:
In fact Wild Asparagus are no asparagus at all: they are the stalks of the Ornithogalum pyrenaicum, a hyacinth-type native plant.
CONSUMPTION:
The young stalks have a light delicate green color and are prepared like green asparagus: steam them or cook them shortly (4-6 min.) and eat them with some melted butter or olive oil.
