cherimoya
ORIGIN:
Originally from the Andes, nowadays cultivated in America and the Mediterranean.
DESCRIPTION:
Cherimoya grows at a bush or a little tree that can get a height of 9 meters. In general, the fruit has an elliptical shape, but it can sometimes be a bit oblong or have the shape of a heart.
CONSUMPTION:
Cherimoya has a smooth, green skin which is a bit leather-like. Search for fruits that have the least brown spots. When the fruit is ripe the texture is like that of a papaya or a ripe pear.
Inside the fruit has a white pulp with a lot of black seeds that are easily removed. The fruit is fleshy and soft, it is sweet in taste, best described as a combination between banana, strawberry and pineapple.
STORAGE:
Ripe fruit can be kept in the refrigerator but fruit that still needs ripening is best kept at room temperature.
