honeydew
ORIGIN:
France, Algeria, Spain
DESCRIPTION:
Honey dew ripens late in the season and is therefor sold in winter as well as summer. The flesh is green-colored, dense, juicy and very sweet.
Ripe honeydew is yellow, has a rather strong smell and feels very heavy for its size.
The fruit is low in calories (only 40 kcal per 100 g) and high in vitamin C.
CONSUMPTION:
Cut in pieces, scoop out the pits with a spoon and cut the fleshy part of the peel with a knife or spoon out.
Very nice on its own or in fruitsalades or served with raw ham.
STORAGE:
In a cool place or in the fridge.
