RASPBERRIES
ORIGIN:
Belgium/the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, South Africa, USA
DESCRIPTION:
The raspberry is a velvety soft, pink fruit with a very special aroma. Raspberries are very juicy and sweet, solid and all have a uniform color. The raspberry is closely related to the blackberry, which becomes clear when you look at the structure of the fruits.
Raspberries contain a lot of fibres, vitamin C and are low in calories.
AVAILABILITY: throughout the year
CONSUMPTION:
Raspberries are delicious on their own. They are also very tasty when converted into raspberry jam, Bavarian cream, juice, pulp and sauce. They can also be frozen separately.
Raspberries can be easily mixed with other soft fruits. Raspberries also go well with hot dishes, such as duck breast, white meat and other sweet-and-sour preparations.
Put some raspberries in a vinegar and the vinegar will get a refined raspberry flavour.
STORAGE:
Only buy raspberries that look fresh, nice and dry. Most summer fruits cannot be stored in a warm place for a very long time. It is best to store the fruit in a cool place and leave it unwashed. Raspberries, when they are spread out on a plate, can be stored for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
