Mango: in full swing

Peru
 
The Peru mango season in full swing now and big supply. Good availability of all calibers especially the calibers 7, 8 and 9. All Peru mangoes are of the Kent variety and good quality and tasty fruit now available.

Bit less supply from mid-February onwards but weekly arrivals of Peru Kent mangoes till end April. Prices attractive now so now mmmmango time and time to do promotions and sales actions.











AVOCADOS: READY TO GUAC!




Current origins at Special Fruit: Chile, Colombia, Spain and Israel. Other origins in the market: Mexico and Guatemala. In general a good supply of all origins prices, putting pressure on the prices, mainly in the small sizes 22-24.

Volumes in Chile are winding down quickly; it will be a faster ending of the season than first expected.


South-Africa is having an off-season this year; this may help to have a more balanced market with all the volume coming from Peru.

Spain and Israel are having a good campaign but as always, the highest prices in the market. Morocco is having an off year; down to 40% less than last year.

Less volume from Mexico coming our way because of the Superbowl in the States.

First Hass arrivals from Peru are forecasted for week 13.

China
Size 14-16-18-20 in 5 kg boxes. 

Although these pears are hard like an appel, the are edible upon purchase. It is usually eaten raw and peeled like an apple. It is used as a sweet addition to many dishes in the Asian cuisine. Also a great combination with strong cheeses.

For the coming weeks we expect mostly big sized fruits entering the market. Size 10 – 12 will be short and prices will rise as our growers have switched the production area to the last plots for this season.

Malaysia

Our growers are waiting for their next crop to be ready for harvest. This is planned for departure at the end of this week. The first harvests will mostly bring small sized fruits.
Regular shipments are expected for February.

Vietnam
Export from Vietnam has been put under a lot of strain since the new European regulation. Our growers are slowly finding their way to work with this new method but prices will remain high.

Israel

Volumes going down, season almost finished.

Turkey
Only variety Hicaz, quality is acceptable. Prices are very competitive.

Peru
Early varieties by air available, the volumes by boat will arrive in week 8.

In January we expect limited supply but this is expected to catch up again for February and March.

Brazil:
Rainfall in Brazil is causing weaker figs and less supply. So for the next period supply might be short but with good planning, regular volumes should be possible to obtain. We expect more smaller sized fruits for the next few weeks.

Peru


Weekly available tree ripened mangoes by air from Peru. Kent variety mangoes in the calibers 9, 10 and 12 in 6kgs cartons. Very nice and very tasty mangoes. Weekly arrivals till mid-April.

Our growers have good volumes in Formosa; we can plan promotions. 

Golden however is a little more limited, mostly in the bigger sizes. There is plenty of volume in size 9 – 10 – 12 and regular volumes should be OK for the coming weeks.

Season of Spanish cherimoya is well on the way. The trees are preparing themselves for spring harvests so supply is on the low side right now, but is expected to pick up again over the next few weeks.
